INTERIOR CLIMATE

Heating and air conditioning systems use energy and this can reduce range.

These systems are most often used at the start of a journey so, to reduce the impact on range, I-PACE has the ability to pre-condition the interior ahead of departure while the car is still charging. This allows I-PACE to use electricity from the power supply, and not the battery, to heat or cool the interior.

Extreme low and high temperatures impact upon how well a battery can maintain its level of charge.

I‑PACE features sophisticated thermal management systems which help to keep the battery at its optimal temperature and minimise the impact of outside temperatures on the car's range.

DRIVING STYLE

One of the biggest impacts on range is the driver. Frequent, heavy acceleration will have a detrimental impact on the car's state of charge, whereas travelling at a steady pace will help an electric car preserve range. Gradual acceleration can also reduce your reliance on hard braking which consumes more energy than gentle braking.

Both acceleration and braking use power.

Repeated acceleration and braking, as experienced in congested traffic, can be as draining on the battery as they are on the driver.

Maintaining a steady speed as much as possible during heavy traffic will help to preserve range.

CHARGING

  • Jaguar I-PACE Home Charging

    HOME CHARGING

    For optimum charging at home, you can install a Jaguar-approved home wall box1 and use the Mode 3 charging cable. I-PACE is equipped with an 11kW 3 phase AC (alternating current) on-board charger, which can recharge your vehicle overnight and deliver up to 42km of range per hour2. A Mode 2 charging cable is also supplied, which can be used with a domestic socket. When using a domestic socket, charging rates are slower than a wall box (up to 7.6km of range per hour), but are sufficient to cover an average daily commute of 60km if the vehicle is charged overnight.

    PUBLIC CHARGING

    The optional I-PACE public charging3 cable is a Mode 3 cable that connects to AC (alternating current) public charging points, the standard in most countries. You can easily find public AC charging points at a multitude of locations by using either the Jaguar Remote app or the Navigation system. A typical 50kW charger can deliver up to 63km of range in 15 minutes2 4. DC (direct current) rapid chargers with tethered cables are increasingly available as the public charging infrastructure improves. I-PACE is equipped to accept up to a 100kW DC charge rate through a tethered DC cable, so there’s no need to carry one.

OPTIMISING RANGE

I‑PACE is equipped with technology to preserve range and protect the vehicle’s battery. With cabin preconditioning, for example, you can heat or cool the interior while I-PACE is charging and the electricity used will be drawn from the mains supply, not the battery5.

ECO MODE

Eco Mode helps preserve I-PACE's range by reducing energy depletion and encouraging a more efficient driving style. It also makes subtle changes to cabin temperature, air recirculation and to a number of the car's other features. You can override these changes by normal operation of each feature or via the menu settings.

4Jaguar has preferred public charging suppliers for all markets in which I‑PACE is available, and you will be able to choose from a variety of tariffs depending on how often you use the charging points available. A DC rapid charger provides large amounts of energy in a short time. The charging rate can decrease as the battery reaches full capacity, so customers may choose to rapid charge to 80 percent capacity, or just for the extended range required.
