When Jaguar released the 2021 F-TYPE, Man of Many’s Brendan Allen was lucky enough to be handed the keys to the supercharged, V6-powered R-Dynamic edition for one very special week. He was excited to take “a closer look at the all-new fearless cat” and find out exactly how the F-TYPE performed.

Anticipating the experience to come, he noted the all-new Jaguar F-TYPE pumps out 280 kW and 460 Nm of torque, delivered through an 8-speed automatic gearbox. With the ability to accelerate from 0-100 km/h in 4.9 seconds and a top speed of 275 km/h, he said “it’s not hard to see why this latest release has Jaguar fans talking”.

Taking the scenic route down the coast, Allen found “the F-TYPE really starts to shine, and we can play around with the different drive modes”. Encountering different road surfaces, he customised the drive mode to suit the conditions. With the F-TYPE R-Dynamic allowing for full control over power delivery, exhaust sound and handling at the touch of a button, he decided to go custom, “keeping the exhaust note at a respectable level, sharpening up the steering but leaving the suspension in a more comfortable mode to absorb some of the bumps on the road”.

Equally impressive as the performance, Allen says the F-TYPE “looks just as good parked as when it’s carving up the roads or racetrack. The R-Dynamic is certainly no exclusion” and he finds this model “even more special”.

He goes on to say that the 2021 model “represents a super fresh design language for the company...the F-TYPE has already secured itself as a modern classic which still holds up beyond 2020”.

Before his week was up, Allen had one more chance to find out what the F-TYPE is really capable of. Pushing the start button, he listened to that “familiar growl”. In full dynamic mode and with the 8-speed gearbox set to ‘sport’, he found “the F-TYPE really comes alive...the exhaust note deepens, the suspension stiffens up, the throttle response sharpens and the steering becomes even more responsive”. Pushing through the gears on a twisting mountain road, “with the snap, crackle and pop of the exhaust behind you, it’s about as close as you can get to automotive perfection”.

Discover for yourself why Brendan Allen was so impressed with the 2021 Jaguar F-TYPE and why “there will always be something special about a front-engined, 2-door coupé, especially when it comes with that Jaguar pedigree that we’ve come to love”.
