2022 ICONIC F-TYPE PACKS A POWERFUL PUNCH

With 2022 model year updates made to the iconic Jaguar F-TYPE sports car, CarsGuide runs through a lineup that has more power and torque at a competitive entry price of $159,900 before on-road. The supercharged V6 variants have been dropped, as well as the entry-level four-cylinder turbocharged petrol models. This leaves the striking two-door coupe and convertible as powerful V8-only offerings.

BREATHTAKING PERFORMANCE

The grades offered have been reduced from six to three. The F-TYPE is now available in R-Dynamic P450 Coupe and Convertible models, “with the range topped by the fire-breathing coupe-only F-TYPE R all-wheel drive”. In the R-Dynamic P450 “the V8 pumps out 331kW of power and 580Nm of torque, driving the rear wheels only via an eight-speed automatic transmission”. It can cover 0-100km/h in just 4.6 seconds. The R Coupe, meanwhile, keeps the 423kW/700Nm version of the V8, driving all four wheels via the same transmission, propelling the vehicle from 0-100km/h in a breathtaking 3.7 seconds.

In the R Coupe, specs include metallic or premium paint, a fixed panoramic roof, 20-inch satin grey five split-spoke alloy wheels, an aluminium gear shift lever, a black exterior styling pack, blind spot assist and a tyre pressure monitoring system.

With CarsGuide pointing out that this “will likely be the V8’s last hurrah in a Jaguar model”, after the announcement that the brand will begin to transition to an electric-only models from 2025, now is the perfect time to experience the heart-racing performance thrills of the 2022 F-TYPE .
