BARTY WINS MAJOR TITLES ON THREE DIFFERENT SURFACES

Congratulations to Jaguar ambassador Ash Barty, who has won her first grand slam on home soil, in a thrilling, hard-fought match. Ash was unstoppable throughout the tournament, dominating play and dispatching her rivals, before securing her place in the final - the first Australian to reach the women’s singles final in 42 years.

Competing against American Danielle Collins, the world number one claimed victory with a 6-3 7-6(2) win at Rod Laver Arena. After the match an emotional Barty described the title as a “dream come true” and was justifiably proud of her achievement.

Down 1-5 in the second set, Barty called upon the strength and reserve she had demonstrated throughout the rounds, and won five of the next six games to force a tiebreak. After executing a powerful forehand, Barty won the tiebreak and the match, and let out a victorious roar in front of the excited crowd.

IMPRESSIVE LIST OF ACHIEVEMENTS

As well as winning her third Grand Slam singles title, after victories at Roland Garros in 2019 and Wimbledon in 2021, Barty also joins Serena Williams as the only active player to win major titles on three different surfaces. Adding to her list of achievements, Barty also becomes the fifth Australian in the Open era to win the women’s singles title. The icing on the cake for Barty’s incredible win was having her idol Evonne Goolagong Cawley make a surprise appearance and present the champion with her trophy.
