Jaguar TCS Racing’s Mitch Evans raced to his best season ever, claiming runner-up in the 2022 ABB FIA Formula E Drivers’ World Championship. Over 15 races in 10 cities across four continents, Evans achieved four wins, seven podiums, one pole position, one fastest lap and 180 points. As a team, Jaguar TCS Racing proudly finished fourth overall with 231 points, the team’s biggest points haul in Formula E.

The final two rounds of a fiercely-fought season took place at the inaugural 2022 Hana Bank Seoul E-Prix. In the penultimate race, Evans showcased his finely-honed racing skills behind the wheel of his Jaguar I-TYPE 5 by leading the race from the opening lap until the chequered flag. His performance delivered on the team strategy to keep Evans at the front of the pack during both of his ATTACK MODE activations, and kept his championship title hopes alive leading into the nail-biting finale. Meanwhile, Norman Nato, in his first outing for Jaguar TCS Racing, finished the race in thirteenth.

TITLE OUT OF REACH IN A SEASON OF HIGHS

In the final race of the season, Evans lined up thirteenth on the grid after a challenging qualifying session. Still in with a chance of claiming the title, he demonstrated his talent and determination by carving his way through the pack and into points contention within the first five minutes of the race. A 10-minute safety car stopped his impressive progress and saw him bring his I-TYPE 5 home in seventh. Norman Nato finished the race in sixteenth, while teammate Sam Bird was unable to compete in Seoul due to an injury, the first two races he has missed since the start of Formula E. Bird finished the season in thirteenth place in the overall drivers’ championship.

SEASON OF HIGHS

James Barclay, Jaguar TCS Racing Team Principal, said, “Today we gave everything to try and win the drivers’ title with Mitch but it was out of reach…At Jaguar TCS Racing we can celebrate a season of real highs. The double race win in Rome, winning the first ever races in Jakarta and Seoul, seven podiums and our biggest points haul in Formula E are moments to be proud of. I would like to thank every member of the team…Our Gen3 campaign has already begun, and we are hungry to go one step further next season.”
